Purpose of meeting:
The above meeting was arranged jointly by members of the Normandy Veterans Association, Grimsby and District No 1 founder branch of the afore said Association who are resident in the city of Hull and district, with members from Grimsby attending in a supportive role.
These were namely Eric Bulman founder chairman who had originated the concept of the Association as formed at Grimsby, Len Osborne treasurer and Arthur Flodman secretary, with other Grimsby members, including Roly Jefferson Standard-bearer complete with standard.
The purpose of the meeting was to test the validity of forming a branch in Kingston upon Hull of the Association.
Colin Houldey who had organised the venue and date etc. and also obtained publicity via Hull Daily Mail and BBC Radio Humberside asked Eric Bulman if he would take the chair, and also give a resume of the Association.
It was further suggested that whilst in the chair, the election of officers for the proposed branch be instituted.
Chairman:
Colin Houldey agreed to accept office as Chairman of the branch.

The vote was unanimous.
Secretary:
Jack Styan agreed to accept office as secretary
Proposed by J. Hammond seconded by E. Harrison
Treasurer:
George Storr agreed to accept office as Treasurer
Proposed by J. Styan seconded by W. Sharkett
The vote was unanimous.
Colin Houldey then took the chair, and asked for a vote to decide if a branch of the Normandy Veterans Assoc be established.
A show of hands gave unanimous agreement to form the said branch in the City of Hull.
Committee:
The Chairman asked for volunteers to form a committee, and 6 members acceded to this request, these being Bill Day, Tom Lyons, Eric Daniels, Eric Harrison, Frank Nunez and Jack Hammond.
Each was elected individually, all receiving a majority vote
Venue, date and time:
The next item to be decided was where to hold future meetings, and it was agreed that the Union Jack Club was suitable, it was ascertained that the management were in favour, but asked that meetings be scheduled for 12:00 noon, for subsequent meetings.
The question of day and date was then pursued, with both Friday and Sunday being days of choice, both to be the first of each month.
Votes were taken, and though both days were favoured, the majority decision was the first Sunday of each month.
The next meeting would therefore take place on the 1st May 1983.
Title, question of:
Questions were posed as to the title by which the newly-formed branch would be known, but this was placed in abeyance for officers and committee to debate.
Vote of thanks:
Tom Lyons from the floor asked for a vote of thanks to be given to Eric Bulman, founder-chairman for his efforts in forming the Association, also to his colleagues who had attended the meeting.
The thanks were spontaneous.
Eric Bulman then gave his thanks to all present, with his appreciation for the enthusiasm of all attending.
The meeting closed at 2:00pm
The next meeting to be held on Sunday the 1st of May 1983 at the Union Jack Club, Kingston Square, Hull at 12:00 noon.
