It was agreed that Lt Col V. C. Ellison (Retd) ex E.R Yeomanry, be approached with a view to nominating him as president of the branch.
Members of the committee offered to contact four prospective members to arrange transport to the next general meeting, as without transport the persons concerned would be unable to attend.
It is urgently necessary to arrange the printing of a supply of official stationary with the NVA badge thereon.
Mr G. Storr offered to look into the supply of a printing block for sale. Mr T. Lyons also agreed to obtain a supply of membership application forms.
It was agreed that this branch adopt the Articles of Association as drawn up by the Grimsby No 1 Founder branch.
That the joining of associate members be allowed in accordance with the said Articles of Association, especially wives of members.
The branch needed to be registered with the local authority under the Small Lotteries Act to enable fund raising raffles to be arranged.
Mr. G Storr was proposed as promoter for the raffles by Mr G. Styan – Mr J. Hammond seconded this – Mr Storr accepted.
It was decided that the official financial year of this branch should begin on 1st June 1983 and that further subscriptions would be due by 1st June each year accordingly.
It was agreed that further members should be co-opted for the sub-committees i.e. promotion and social committees and that this would be discussed at the next general meeting on May 1st.
The secretary is to write to and officially thank the Grimsby branch for their invaluable advice and help in the organizing of the start of this branch.
Discussion of fund raising activities to be raised at the general meeting on May 1st. A small private raffle to be organized at this meeting. Committee members agreed to donate prizes.
It was thought that ideas should be considered for the celebrations of the 1984 40th Anniversary of the Normandy Landings i.e. visit to Normandy.
Suitable venues for the forthcoming functions to be investigated.
Official notices for the branch to be placed on the notice board at the Union Jack Club.
The purchase of a branch Standard is a priority as and when funds are available.
The Grimsby branch has suggested that pressure be put on the post office to print a stamp to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Normandy Landings.
It was suggested the secretary should write to the present Lord Mayor of Hull – Councillor H. Woodford – inviting him to the next general meeting, as it is understood that he qualifies to be a member of the association.
The next committee meeting shall take place on Tuesday evening 17th May 1983.
