Upon looking at the Hull Daily Mail website I saw that my favourite photo looked like the late Bill Fuller. I would like to pass on my condolences to his family and would pass this photo onto them if they wish.

Name: Mrs Monika Davison Date posted: February 26, 2010 - 02:39 pm Message: Dear Sir,
I am a head teacher of the Hull Polish Community School - a Saturday school for Polish children and young people. We are organising an event which you may find interesting - The Oaks of Remembrance - we are planting some oaks at Bricknell Playing Fields on the 20th of March 2010 in memory of the Polish officers killed in Katyn 1940. Each one of the oaks we are planting will have a name of a Katyn victim attached to it. We are planning an official plaque uncovering in June and we are hoping that you could join us then to remember these, who were so sneakily murdered... We are still sorting the actual date for the celebration but please let me know if you are interested in this initiative. I can be contacted on the email mondavison@googlemail.com
Thank you ever so much! Monika Davison

I am a TV producer, making a documentary on this year's D-Day Commemorations. It's a 50-minute film, which will be shown on the Discovery Channel and released on DVD, and it highlights the significance of the events every year, and looks at them through the eyes of the veterans.
We would very much like to make contact with a group of veterans going over, so we (if possible) travel with them and get their perspective on the events.
I can be contacted at any time on 07967 342240 or via email (dale@wpltv.co.uk)
Many thanks!!

Name: Malcolm Black Date posted: October 25, 2009 - 06:43 pm Message: Is it appropriate that Gordon Brown should be in attendance at services to honour brave soldiers who gave their lives to protect British sovereignty and all our freedoms?. Given the fact he and others in Westminster have, and continue to negotiate away those very principals to an EU dictatorship. Furthermore he and his government are responsable for sending our troops to fight in a war that has nothing to do with British freedoms, who are both under funded and woefully short of equipment

We have a picture of him with a friend and the American flag. Since there is only one picture, the whole family seems to be argumentative about who gets him and when. We have it in a beveled glass container. He liked the name Marcel and brought it back and named his first daughter Clara Marcel Brown. She went by Marcie. Her daughter is my mother, LuElla Faye Zenor, and once on my own I independantly took on the name he brought back from Normandy in France. He liked the name Marcel. I use it as my surname in honor of my grandmother and my great grandfather who served in WWII and brought the name home with him. He was a beautiful, strong, hard working man...and we all loved him.
Best to you all,
Kathleen "Kassie" F. Marcel

I myself are quarter German but are still very very proud to be British. The fact that he says he is ashamed to be British is truly appauling. He obviously has no respect for fallen comrades abd those who served to acquire us our freedom. My History Lecturer even confirmed that all of the points in "Steven's" post is rubbish. If our country was full of people like this thing "Steven" we would have lost our freedom many, many years ago. You yourself may say you are ashamed to be british but i speak on behalf of Britain that we are ashamed to have someone like you in Britain.

I would like to invite any NVA members and supporters to come to the world famous 'Soldiers' Church' - the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Northampton - on Sunday afternoon 28 June, to atttend a celebratory Service at 3.00pm as the final event of all those taking place during the next fortnight in support of Armed Forces Day. Full details can be found on the website www.stseps.org or by an e-mail to me at g@stseps.org
I have recently discovered that the church holds an NVA flag and it would be wonderful if someone from the NVA could come along and be prepared to bring the flag forward to the altar to be received.
Name: Proudscot61 Date posted: June 07, 2009 - 11:25 am Message: I am 47 years old and was born 16 years after the end of World War 2. I watched the coverage on the BBC of the D-Day celebration at Arromanches. I was touched to see the fly past and the cheer given by all those brave servicemen and women who during wartime would have been thankful to hear those familiar engine sounds.
I listened as the Master of Ceremonies introduced the French Prime Minister and welcomed and thanked him for his participation. He then went on to introduce the ENGLISH Prime Minister!!
This Master of Ceremonies totally ruined this event for me. How must Scottish, Welsh and Irish military personnel have felt? Were there no Scottish troops scrambling over the Normandy beaches? Were there no Welsh or Irish veterans of that hellish conflict.
Whoever the Master of Ceremonies is I feel he owes an apology to those that he insulted. I am still upset today and hence this post was made.

Name: Steven Date posted: March 21, 2009 - 04:32 pm Message: Denis - don't you mean 65th anniversary ? How sad to get that basic fact wrong. How many people actually know their 'stuff' when analysing WW2 ? Very few. The British public are brain washed fools who read The Sun. Heres a few facts to chew over. The Germans didn't want a war with the Western Allies. As in WW1 we (the UK) declared war on Germany. Did you know Winston Churchill was a half Jew ? Did you know that in the 1930's Stalin killed 20 million people - we did nothing to prevent it and we even allied with him later! Hypocricy or what! The English are Anglo Saxon. The Angles and Saxons came from Germany. Our language (English) is classified as a West Germanic Language. And the top 100 fighter pilots of WW2 were all German. What I am hinting at here sadly can't be summarised in a paragraph. I could go on but we are so anti German in this country its pathetic. No other nation talks such crap about their involvement in WW2 than the British. I am embarrassed to be British!

I would love to be able to give my support and help, and fund or donate some money so that it can be possible that the NVAs can go on the trip. I can't believe that the world we live in today does not show the respect that you all deserve. I have one student who has a relative ( his Grandmothers brother?) who is buried in Bayeux Cemetery. His name is Private CHARLES ERIC JACKSON ( 14660723) 3nd Batt, EYR age 19 died on 6/6/44. I am reasonably versed on the experiences of the 2nd Battalion having been friendly with Peter Brown although I have not seen him for several years. To help my student understand a little of what his relative went through and perhaps a bit more of the circumstances of his death I have been trying to find out which company he was in. Can you in anyway help as my trail has run out. Lee's grandmother does not remember such detail and I have struggled elsewhere.
