Normandy Veterans Association Hull

"Beyond all of this, comes one of the main reasons for our existence, to remember and honour the memory of those of us who never had the opportunity"

The beginning of the Hull & District Branch No 13 started in the Union Jack club Kingston Square.
The names in the minutes are founder members, the veteran who first thought of starting a branch was the late Veteran Colin Houldey, of the veterans named in the minutes, to my knowledge only three are alive, F Nunez, E Daniels and J McNally.
The original minutes are on `the first meeting` page.
The Hull & District Branch No 13 is still functioning with about 40 active members, the sick and infirm are kept in touch with the branch through the Welfare Officer.
The branch attends the NVA Whitehall Parade in London, The York Parade and Service in York and the annual parParade at Eden Camp.
We also have a Parade on June 6th at the branches NVA Plaque situated at the Cenotaph in Hull City centre, there is a short service to pay homage to those who died in Normandy and those comrades who have since passed on.
On our yearly Pilgrimage we have laid wreathes at Military Cemeteries in Normandy, Belgium, Holland and Germany.
We have a spring social in April and a Christmas social in December.
The branch meets at the Humber St Andrews club the first Tuesday in the month, the Executive meet the third Tuesday in the month.
Since the Hull & District Branch No 13 was formed the membership rose to 100 plus, as with the Executive committee there are too many names to mention.
